NYC made sections of Times Square closed to traffic. No vehicles are allowed between 47th to 42nd Streets and between 35th to 33rd Streets were closed to cars in an effort to lower traffic, pollution  and pedestrian accidents.

Motorists including truckers are not a fan of the closure but many small business owners think this may bring more shoppers into their stores thus boosting business!

As soon as I heard about new Yasmina Reza’s play, God of Carnage, I could not wait to see it. I saw her art years back. You cannot forget it. On top of the exciting prospect of seeing her new play, I was fascinated with the incredible set of Aces in the production: James Gandolfini, Hope Davis, Jeff Daniels and Marcia Gay Brown. I was a little puzzled with the idea of bringing together four such powerful actors and how to prevent them from overpowering each other on stage.

Is it a comedy? Is it a drama? It is LIFE. It is everything that surrounds us and it is funny, tragic, dramatic and REAL. The problems raised in this wonderful play are so realistic, that I cannot see anybody in our society who could not relate to some of the issues one way or another.

The ensemble of actors performed like a well-oiled machine, from the first dialogue to the last. You could not say who was better, because they worked as a wonderful, flawless team.

I am especially pleased with work of James Gandolfini. He did not stand out even though I expected it knowing his previous part in The Sopranos. He was a part of the quartet, not a soloist. Wonderful job, James!

Hope Davis was so gracious and kind, she came out from the back door after the show to sign the autographs. She thanked everybody for coming! On request from one of the fans, she recited her last sentences.

Thank you God of Carnage production team for the wonderful time and memories that will be with me for years to come!

God of Carnage currently will run though August at Jacobs Theater in Times Square, New York.

NEW YORK (may 14) – New York City has closed three schools in response to a swine flu outbreak that has left an assistant principal in critical condition and sent hundreds of kids home with flu symptoms, in a flare-up of the virus that sent shock waves through the world last month.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that four students and the assistant principal have documented cases of swine flu at a Queens middle school. More than 50 students have gone home sick with flulike symptoms there, he said. At another middle school in Queens, 241 students were absent Thursday. Dozens more were sick at an elementary school.

A little over a week ago we launched our new kids blog, Kids In The City! It’s purpose is to record the day trips and adventures in New York from a child’s perspective. My kids are permitted to choose the venue they want to see. After we arrive back home they blog about their experience from their own point of view, highlighted the good, the bad and the ugly as only a kid can! We add photos when we can! Please check out our kids activities section and send us your suggestions and reviews!!
