Tompkin Park was one of the first no-leash dog walk parks in New York. This is just a quick snapshot of it in the dark as we got out of the taxi.

Wednesday night Jon and I went up to the East Village to check out 2 of his friends in a poetry slam at the Nuyorican Cafe. Somebody missed the exit for the train station and we were starving by the time we got out of the taxi near Tompkin Park. Benny’s was a cute Village Mexican restaurant. But it was different. Beside the cool crowd (that’s us!) it seemed like pretty healthy food. Ever hear of Cojita Cheese????

Wednesday night we went to the Nuyorican Cafe in Greenwich Village. We went to see a Poetry Slam.  It was the first time I had seen one. Poets from all over New York recited emotionally charged works, many of which drew from personal experiences. Very cool! I’d definitely go back to the Nuyorican.
